A Message From Head Instructor Eric Nostrand:
Are you tired of coming home to see your child lacking energy, drive, and focus? Are they not willing to commit to their school work, playing outside with their friends and getting involved with a sport or extracurricular activity? I know it’s difficult to see your child being lazy and let’s be real, these things shouldn’t be boring for kids. Maybe your child is getting bullied at school and could really benefit from learning some self-defense and martial arts.
At our school in Whittier, we teach Brazilian jiu-jitsu for kids in a fun, positive & empowering way. This is the best way to for a parent to combat laziness and to encourage a socialized, fit & confident lifestyle for your child. When your child studies jiujitsu with Gracie Barra they are more focused, get better grades, gain social skills, stay active and learn how to handle themselves with martial arts. Many of our students in Whittier have seen these benefits. We have students who have lost lots of weight, some who have defended themselves against bullies at school and some that excel in jiu-jitsu competitions.
Look, nobody wants a child who is scared to go to school because of a bully. With Brazilian jiu-jitsu, you empower your child with the confidence and self-defense skills to deal with a bully in a mature and effective manner. The difference between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other martial arts is that Brazilian jiu-jitsu is not based in striking like karate, kung fu and tae kwon do. Imagine you get a phone call from your Childs school principle. Would you rather a call that said “your child got into an altercation with a bully, he used his karate techniques and punched the bully in the face. We now have an angry parent and a bully with a broken and bloody nose”… not the best phone call right? Yes, your child effectively defended him/herself but the collateral damage can cause a snowball of issues. Now imagine your child trains at Gracie Barra Whittier. We’ve taught him or her effective and prove techniques to use against bullies without the need to punch or kick. The phone call from the principle now might sound something like this “Your child got into an altercation with a bully, he used his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills to effectively subdue the bully until a teacher came to break things up. Nobody was hurt and everybody is safe.” Much better right?
Did you know that Southern California is a hub for kids Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and competition? At our school in Whittier, we have a program specifically focused on developing our students into world class child jiu-jitsu competitors. We call this our Top Team Program & we’ve collected some of the most prestigious titles, trophies & medals in kids sports jiu-jitsu. It’s important to note that not all of our students chose to compete. Competition is encouraged but never mandatory. In fact, most of our kids never step onto a tournament mat.
The best thing about Kids Martial art at Gracie Barra Whittier is that all of our students come together and become friends. They’re all a part of the Gracie Barra Team and they’re all being empowered through all the amazing benefits that Brazilian jiu-jitsu can offer.
